Woof. (Not my typical animalistic expression, being a bit more of a cat person – although dogs are great too, don’t get me wrong… but I digress.)

This particular shift in the Gregorian calendar year felt a bit sticky to me. (Beyond just noticing that my “e” key seems to be less responsive (still).) And, perhaps that’s something I’ve set myself up for, but I’ll circle back to that in a bit.

What does loving mean to you?

And being loved?

When was the last time you paused to listen to your Venusian heart?

I ask because as we sit here, around the rising of the New Moon in Sagittarius 2025, Venus is square Saturn and Neptune, conjunct the sun and the moon, and quincunx Jupiter. She’s also in the “underworld,” as the story goes, spending much of her time out of view due to her position on the other side of the sun until February 2026.

Be still.

Breathe in…

Breathe out.

Snow blankets the landscape here in southern Wisconsin with the advent of our first major storm of the season, and it is quiet. Deeply quiet.

It has been for days now.

Certainly, I’ve looked out the window and noticed passing cars, heard their rumbling and crunching during walks, and smelled their exhaust hanging heavy in the air. But they remain just beyond – tucked a layer away from the effortless peace of this newly established winter wonderland.

When the flakes fell on Saturday, I took myself out for a long walk, first bundled to near absurdity (or perhaps practicality, considering the wind and falling temperatures). As I marched my way through space and time towards the lakeshore, I loosened my hood enough for it to drop onto my shoulders, letting snow cake and create a thin ice mold atop my beanie (that would later melt into glorious puddles all over my mudroom floor).

A Scorpio New Moon {i1} Field Notes from the Aether

The collective soup has been thick and in many ways, a bit oppressive of late. And if you’re energetically sensitive, the past few days leading up to this Scorpio new moon with Mercury in retrograde may have felt like being in a pressure cooker. Personally, I know I’ve cried more in the past 48 hours than in the past 2 months, as my physical body has aimed to make some sort of sense of what Mercury has been learning during this particular stint in the underworld.
